3 EPRA ANNUAL REPORT 2018 I am proud to say that 2018 marked the passing of yet another successful year of delivering on our end-of-life electronics recycling mandate for all Canadians, from coast to coast. We continue to seek out efficiency improvements program-wide, while maintaining our overarching commitment to safe and secure EOLE recycling and promoting environmental stewardship initiatives. The technology sector is ever-evolving. We, as an organization, must adapt to these changes – employing strategies that evolve in step with industry- wide advancements, in addition to changes in consumer behaviour. Specific EPRA 2018 accomplishments include: • The safe and secure recycling of over 94,638 metric tonnes of end-of-life electronics, ensuring they are kept out of landfill, prevented from being illegally exported or handled by irresponsible recyclers and ensuring that resources are recovered, recycled and put back into the manufacturing supply chain. • The continued expansion of our extensive network of drop-off locations is making accessibility and participation even easier for Canadian consumers. The addition of 52 locations, including return-to-retail partnerships, has allowed our network to grow to a total of 2,400 drop-off locations throughout Canada. • Initiating program improvements based on the feedback from both our stewards and from consumers to ensure efficiencies in program delivery. • Strategic website improvements to optimize search engine rankings and provide regionally-specific messaging based on consumer location, all with the end goal of making EOLE recycling easier and more convenient for all Canadians. • Targeted campaigns surrounding Earth Week, Waste Reduction Week and Cyber Monday allowed us to achieve our greatest audience reach to date. On behalf of EPRA, I would like to thank the program stewards and other stakeholders for their continued support throughout 2018, and our fellow Canadians for their participation in responsibly recycling EOLE through the EPRA program, contributing to a sustainable future for us all.
